Energy Efficiency Improvement Concept for Autonomous Locomotives

The growing attention to the issues of increasing energy efficiency railway transport results in suggesting various designs traction rolling stock with most advanced technical solutions, but, unfortunately, many them remain only at development or prototype stage.The analysis operating experience existing mainline locomotives is proposed help develop fundamental principles concept improving autonomous locomotives, aimed creating a modular locomotive structure that makes it possible coordinate operational loads modes equipment provide best conditions for converting and transferring wheel sets. Modern on-board systems record parameters can be used both determine locomotive, as well evaluate new solutions use discrete-adaptive control design diesel generator sets motors under locomotives.Implementation could make save up 20 % fuel during transportation work, which was confirmed testing locomotive.
